Description

It's easy to create a light shadow behind a die cut using a die and wax paper.

Instructions

  1. Many of us use wax paper between or die and cardstock when die cutting intricate pieces out. It helps to remove the piece without tearing or sticking in the die. When we are finished we often through that die cut piece of wax paper out, but now there's a way that you can use it on your project, too!

For this project, start by creating a background using pastel chalks. Add some chalk directly onto the 4" x 6" piece of cardstock and use your fingers to blend it.

Continue adding different colors and blending them together to complete the look of your background.

Now, place the die you will be using onto the plate of your die cutting machine and place a piece of wax paper on top of it. Next, add a piece of cardstock and run it through the machine.

You should end up with 2 die cut pieces once you are done and have carefully removed both from the die.

Add a little glue using a glue pen or a bottle of glue and a paintbrush to the back of the wax paper cut out and place it onto your chalked background. Place the cardstock die cut piece on top of the wax paper piece being sure to off set it a little to create the shadow.

  7. See how easy it is to create a shadow using something found in your kitchen? Now have some fun and use your favorite dies to create some fantastic pieces for your next project!
