About

Using old pillow forms, a pile of discarded button-down shirts and either a sewing machine or hand stitcher, you can create kids' activity shirts or more "grown-up" throw pillows, all highly huggable.

You Will Need:

- Old button down shirts
- a handheld stitcher or sewing machine
- pillow forms
- pins
- optional: felt scraps, glue, yarn and puffy paint to make accessories

  • Pillow Form
  • Men's Button Down Shirt
  • Sewing Machine or handheld stitcher
  • Pin(s)
  • (optional) Felt
  • (optional) Yarn

Steps (6 steps, 40 minutes)

  1. 1

Starting with a clean, ironed shirt, cut off the shirtsleeves.

  2. 2

Turn the shirt inside-out and place pillow form inside.

  3. 3

Pin your desired seam location on all four sides.

  4. 4

Trim excess fabric and sew along pin outline.

Once all four sides are done, trim any excess fabric and turn the shirt right-side out. Insert pillow form inside the cover, and button shirt closed.

Give your finished pillow a big squeeze!
