Scratch coloured lines out of paint covered wax. It's called Scratch Art or Crayon Etching and gives brilliant results.

You Will Need (6 things)

  • Kitchen Paper
  • Or Stick
  • Pencil
  • Black Poster Paint
  • Wax Crayons
  • White Card

Steps (4 steps, 15 minutes)

  1. 1

Draw a border about 1cm thick around edge of white card.

  2. 2

Rub your wax crayons all over the card leaving no white spaces. You can use any combination of colours. Make it nice and thick.
Rub away surplus wax with kitchen paper.

  3. 3

Once covered, paint over your wax crayon with black poster paint (or acrylic or gouache). Colour evenly. Paint should be quite thick but not lumpy.

  4. 4

Once the paint had dried, (you can use a hairdryer to speed up the process!) then scrape your pattern on the paint with a hard pencil or stick to reveal the wax colours beneath.
