You Will Need (9 things)

  • Pin(s)
  • Sewing Machine
  • Paper for template
  • Needle & Thread
  • Wire
  • Black plastic Headband
  • ¼ m Black Silk
  • Tailors Chalk
  • Fabric Scissors

Steps (10 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

Begin by creating a paper template for the ears. They can be any size or shape, but make sure to leave an extra 10cm trail at the bottom of the ear, so that you can later tie the ear on to the headband. Draw around the template on to the wrong side of the fabric using tailors chalk. Draw around the template twice, and then flip the template over and draw around it twice more.

  2. 2

Cut out the four fabric ear shapes using sharp fabric scissors.

  3. 3

Take two of the corresponding fabric shapes and pin together, so that the wrong sides are facing out.

  4. 4

Machine sew around the outline of the ear, leaving the bottom edge unstitched.

  5. 5

Take a piece of heavy gauge wire and bend in the shape of the ear, using the template to get the correct shape.

  6. 6

Turn the stitched ear inside out, so that the right side of the fabric faces out and place the wire frame inside the ear and bend in to the desired shape. Pin around the inside edge of the wire frame.

  7. 7

Machine sew around the inside edge of the wire frame. This secures the wire frame in place and helps the ear to keep it's shape.

  8. 8

Wrap the 10cm fabric trail around the headband, twist around the ear and pin at the back of the ear.

  9. 9

Thread a needle with black thread and stitch the ear in place. Repeat for the other ear.

  10. 10

The rabbit ears are finished, now you can bend them in to the shape you like and wear with pride!
