This hat can be worn as a ponytail hat, a normal hat, a headband, or a neckwarmer. It’s really easy to work up. And quick. The trickiest part is working front post/back post stitches – which I’m sure is no problem for most of you. Gauge is not important, just start with an even number of ch to fit around widest part of head. Includes video tutorial!

This hat can be worn as a ponytail hat, a normal hat, a headband, or a neckwarmer. It’s really easy to work up. And quick. Instructions

  1. 1: Ch even number to fit widest part of head (64 fits 21″ head/small) Join to 1st ch w/ sl st (careful not to twist ch) Ch 2 (counts as dc) Dc in each st around (double check your count) Join to ch-2 w/ sl st

  2. 2: Ch 2 (does not count as st) FPdc around dc just below (same st) BPdc around next dc * FPdc around next dc BPdc around next dc * Repeat from * to * around Join to FPdc (skip ch-2)

  3. 3: Ch 2 (does not count as st) FPdc around FPdc just below (same st) BPdc around next BPdc * FPdc around next FPdc BPdc around next BPdc * Repeat from * to * around Join to FPdc w/ sl st (skip ch-2)

  4. 4: Ch 2 (counts as dc) Dc in BL of next st and each st around Join to ch-2 w/ sl st

  5. 5: Ch 2 (counts as dc) Dc in next st and each st around Join to ch-2 w/ sl st

  6. 6-15: Repeat round 5 ten times or until desired length is reached

  7. 16: Ch 2 (counts as dc) Dc in BL of next st and each st around Join to ch-2 w/ sl st

  8. 17: Ch 2 (does not count as st) FPdc around dc just below (same st) BPdc around next dc * FPdc around next dc BPdc around next dc * Repeat from * to * around Join to FPdc w/ sl st (skip ch-2)

  9. 18: Ch 2 (does not count as st) FPdc around dc just below (same st) BPdc around next dc * FPdc around next dc BPdc around next dc * Repeat from * to * around Join to FPdc w/ sl st (skip ch-2) Fasten off. Weave in ends.

  10. Ch 90 (or longer if needed) Fasted off. Weave through last row of FPdc’s as cinch for hat.
