This was my very first attempt at face painting. I was meant to follow this certain picture but diverted towards the end and just went all abstract and wild with the colors. They say it looks like something you'd see at some chinese acrobat show, oh well. This is not a how-to post, more like showing the tips and tricks of face painting. I'm no pro at this, but this is what i've learned so far after doing this type of drawing on a few faces. Sucky quality photos, so the colors aren't as vibrant, sorry bout that. Remember, the design is very abstract. Keep on perfecting it to your liking, but don't go on layering paint like a madman, there will be other faces to paint.

Do the base colors, for this i used red and blue. Use the brush to create outlines and the sponge to fill it in. If it gets too narrow, just use the brush to color it in.
To blend a second color on top of the base color, use the sponge and tap it as lightly as you want the colors to appear. Do not use the brush to blend colors in big areas.
To add a few accents and highlights here and there, use the brush and load lots of paint onto it. Use bright colors with high contrast, it'll look better.
Addition tips +always clean the brush after using a color, we want clean colors +careful not to smudge. face painting takes the longest time to dry. when you draw, don't get into the habit of resting a finger or port of your palm on the face. Use your other hand to steady the face from below the chin. +work with a semi-dry brush, dab off the water after you clean the brush so the color will go on thick, but make sure it's slightly wet so the paint won't be so dry that it doesn't make smooth lines.
