This is quite a time consuming task. but the end product is something really personal, also i used pictures of the latest ipods etc so in the future it will almost be like a time capsule.

Get as many magazines as you can get your hands on!
Cut out all pictures that you like- also cut out interesting text you can use pictures from the internet as well but the quality is usually better in magazines
Sand down an old wooden chair
Get sticking!!! This took me the best part of a year but probably could be done in about 3 days if you set your mind to it. Don't worry too much about how to place things, you can always put more pictures on top if you don't like them
varnish with as many layers you feel is necessary (i used 6) Also be careful which varnish you use as the varnish i used cause my pictures to get black spots on them in places
