I was up for weeks trying to figure out how make a coin purse fully lined. Well, here's my first attempt and it isn't as hard as it looks! With a few alterations to the measurements, you can easily make a pencil case or a cosmetic bag.

Description

I was up for weeks trying to figure out how make a coin purse fully lined. Well, here's my first attempt and it isn't as hard as it looks! With a few alterations to the measurements, you can easily make a pencil case or a cosmetic bag.

Instructions

  1. Small 5075

I started with a 5" zipper, 2 pieces of vinyl, and 3 pieces of red and black material all measuring 6"x4". *only 4 pieces are necessary however, I chose to add an extra red piece so that my lining would match.

  2. Small 5076

Place your exterior fabric face up with the clear vinyl on top. Place the zipper face down on the top edge and line them neatly. Pin the pieces in place being careful not to poke holes below the actual zipper. Now sew across the top just above the zipper.

  3. Small 5077

Line up one of the interior pieces face down right over the pieces you've just sewn. Use pins to hold it in place and sew again. *If you're really good, you may be able to sew all 4 pieces together in one shot.

  4. Small 5078

Fold back the pieces you've just sewn to expose the untouched half of the zipper. Repeat steps 2 and 3. you should end up with something similar to the photo.

  5. Small 5079

Line up the two exteriors to face each other and the other side should have the interiors facing each other. Sew along the edges leaving the interior bottom open and trim the edges. This is very important otherwise you won't be able to turn your purse inside out. (the interior bottom in the picture is shown on top)

  6. Small 5081

Pinch the side and the bottom of the exterior together lining up the seams. Sew about a half inch across and snip the edge off. *this will give it some width but you can skip this step altogether if you wish.

  7. Small 5082

Flip the purse inside out through the interior bottom you left open in the previous step. Using a needle and thread, stitch the bottom closed and push the interior inside.

  8. Small 5083

All done! I've added a piece of ribbon to the zipper pull to make it easier to pull open and closed.
