This project is quick, simple, useful, and so customizable. I made my sleeves for coffee and tea, but you could easily put names, artwork, your dog’s face printed on fabric…really the possibilities are endless.
This project is quick, simple, useful, and so customizable. I made my sleeves for coffee and tea, but you could easily put names, artwork, your dog’s face printed on fabric…really the possibilities are endless.
Abbreviations used for this pattern include the chain stitch (ch), slip stitch (ss), and double crochet stitch (dc). Pattern is in US terms. A 4mm crochet hook was used. Round 1. ch 25. ss to first chain to join the first and last stitches together. (Be sure that the chain has not twisted before your slip stitch.) Round 2-5. ch 2. dc in each stitch around. ss to top of ch 2. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Now, plug in your iron and cut your fabric to measure 3″ tall by 4″ wide. Iron your fabric to get rid of any wrinkles. Turn your fabric face down and fold approximately 1/4″ to 1/2″ of one side over. Iron down your first side to hold the fold in place. Repeat with the following three sides. Next, turn your fabric face side up and use your stamps to create your design. On my first sleeve, I stamped different coffee terms on my fabric using two font types. I stamped out “Spot of Tea” on another sleeve I created so my tea cup wouldn’t get jealous;)
Use your sewing pins to pin your fabric onto your crocheted cup sleeve. Sew around the edges with your needle and thread. I find the back stitch works really well to secure fabric on crocheted pieces.
