Coffee Press Cozy

Make a Queen of Hearts inspired Coffee Press

https://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/coffee-press-cozy • Posted by Enid G.

I drew inspiration for this coffee press cozy from a beautiful Queen of Hearts image. I've also been catching up on one of my favorite guilty pleasures (Once Upon a Time on ABC) and have been wanting to create an Alice in Wonderland inspired craft. Since I'm more of a coffee drinker than a tea party connoisseur I made a "heart-felt" coffee press cozy! I can't tell you how much it brightens up my small kitchen!

I drew inspiration for this coffee press cozy from a beautiful Queen of Hearts image. Instructions

  1. Small 107638 2f2015 02 23 071530 queen 2bof 2bhearts

I was inspired by this Queen of Hearts Image I found by digital alchemy on the deviant art site.

Gather your supplies from the list

  3. Small 107638 2f2015 02 23 071542 cozy3

I started by cutting out red and black hearts a little larger than the size of a quarter. I cut one out then used it as a template for the rest by pinning it down and cutting around it.

  4. Small 107638 2f2015 02 23 071546 cozy4

Next I measured the height of the coffee press and cut the felt rectangle to size. If you buy the pre-cut felt squares, as I did here, there won't be enough fabric for it go around the entire container but that's okay, that's where the ribbon comes into play. I also cut out little notches so the handle can fit properly. But in the end, it wasn't really necessary :P

  5. Small 107638 2f2015 02 23 071552 cozy5

I pinned down each heart in a row and sewed down the center and all the way down with a backstitch. I removed the pins as I went along and tried to keep the hearts as straight as possible.

I then pinned together the dark beige sheet to the lighter beige sheet then use a whipstitch to sew the top and bottom of the cozy.

I cut six 4 inch pieces of ribbon and pinned them 3 to each side of the felt cozy, and then whipstitched both sides up!

Finally, I tied the felt cozy to the coffee press. It looks so cute!
