Thrift Store Tray Gets a Coastal Makeover
I recently bought a plain tray at Goodwill for .50. I wasn’t sure just what I would do with it, but for that price, I couldn’t pass it up. Once I thought about how to give it a new look, I decided a coastal makeover would be just right for this.

Step 1
Gather supplies. Paint the tray using chalk paint. I used Salmon Coral from Folk Art.
Step 2
I gave it two coats, allowing it to dry between each coat. One bonus of using chalk paint is how quickly it dries. Plus, it has very little odor.
Step 3
Attach the rope along the inner rim of the tray using hot glue.
Step 4
Paint the anchor with chalk paint. I used Celery from Waverly Paints. Attach the anchor to the tray with hot glue.
Step 5
Attach a sea shell at the point where the ends of the rope meet. It's attached with hot glue.
Step 6
The finished tray is a great addition to my coastal decor.
Step 7
I added a couple of coffee mugs with sea shells on them that i purchased from Kirkland's. This thrift store find now makes a prety serving tray for coffee and a snack.
