Description

Learn how to make clay roses and make a beautiful clay rose headband.

Instructions

  1. Small 102514 2f2014 06 11 211434 floral headband 2

To make the rose, roll out a small ball of clay to about a radius of 1/4″. Roll the ball into a cone shape measuring approximately 1/2″.

  2. Small 102514 2f2014 06 11 211440 floral headband 3

Flatten the tip of the cone and roll to create the center of the rose.

  3. Small 102514 2f2014 06 11 211444 floral headband 4

Roll out two more small balls with a radius of 1/4″. Flatten one half of the ball to create a single petal as shown above.

  4. Small 102514 2f2014 06 11 211455 floral headband 5

Attach the petal to the center of the rose. Flatten the remaining ball and wrap it around the center, overlapping the first petal. Slightly bend back the edges of the petals.

  5. Small 102514 2f2014 06 11 211509 floral headband 6

Continue making petals in this fashion until the rose is as big as you want it.

  6. Small 102514 2f2014 06 11 211514 floral headband 7

When you have finished adding petals to your rose, pinch the bottom of the rose making sure all the petals are firmly attached. Cut off the excess clay leaving a flat bottom on the rose.

I wanted my roses to have a glossy shine, so I used some Glu6 Original and a small paintbrush to coat each of the roses. Let them dry.

  8. Small 102514 2f2014 06 11 211526 floral headband 10

Arrange your roses in the pattern you want to glue them onto your headband.

  9. Small 102514 2f2014 06 11 211533 floral headband 9

Apply some Glu6 Craft Paste to the bottom of the rose and attach to the headband. Let the headband dry thoroughly in an upright position.
