Pretty on plates....

Pretty earring display for the poor of pocket. I found the porcelain plate for 30 cents at a garage sale and had the ribbon from long ago.
The whole project is very easy on paper; all that is needed as far as skill goes is a certain amount of manual dexterity. Good luck and happy crafting!

You Will Need (2 things)

  • Ribbon
  • A Fancy Plate with ridges on the edge

Steps (5 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

First you need to find a lovely little plate or saucer. Porcelain is prettiest. The most important part and only requirement is that it has ridges around the edges, like the example photo. These are to hold the ribbon in place.

  2. 2

Find a bit of ribbon. I used about a yard or so. Thinner ribbon is prettier, but thicker ribbon could probably hold more earrings, especially studs.

  3. 3

This is the trickier part, and i didn't take photos (sorry!). You need to string ribbon across the front and back of the plate, pulling taut as you go. The ridges will hold the ribbon in place, and you can get away with one or two on smoother sections of the edge.
The more hook type earrings you have, the more horizontal lines you'll want. For studs, it doesn't really matter.
There isn't really any special method to all this; just make sure you're pulling taut as you string it around. Go crazy! :)
The arrows just show the ridges where i strung my ribbon, in case it was confusing.

  4. 4

When you're done stringing it, you need to tie a knot in the back while keeping the ribbon taut. For me, it was definitely the hardest step. There was much cursing and starting over.

  5. 5

Now, mount it to your wall somehow (i put two little nails below it and one above attached to the ribbon) and stick your earrings on it! Hook earrings just hang right over, and studs need to be pushed through the ribbon and connected. Enjoy!
