Classic Teddy Bear

He still needs a name...

I had a craving to make something. I looked up a pattern for a bear and found a few things. The only problem is, they used darts in the pattern (Darts are those little V things taken out of the pattern). I don't do dart. I got fed up and created my first teddy. He's rather skinny and flat looking but that's ok. NOTE: I'm assuming that you are going to make a naturally coloured bear in the Materials Needed list. You can make whatever color you wish.

Description

I had a craving to make something. I looked up a pattern for a bear and found a few things. The only problem is, they used darts in the pattern (Darts are those little V things taken out of the pattern). I don't do dart. I got fed up and created my first teddy. He's rather skinny and flat looking but that's ok. NOTE: I'm assuming that you are going to make a naturally coloured bear in the Materials Needed list. You can make whatever color you wish.

Instructions

  1. Small thread 1312124112

Get the thread colours that you need. I got all this at a yard sale for $5.

  2. Small materials needed 1312124441

NOTE: The sumo is a pin cushion. That where the needle is. You'll need more fleece than shown. An old sharpie is the preferance, I couldn't find mine for the picture so that's why that pink one is there.

  3. Now the project starts. Trace all the stuff how many times I specified. Then cut. When you cut, don't cut on the line. Cut about 1/8 of an inch away. That way, when you sew, the bear is as big as you wanted it to be and you don't see the trace lines.

  4. Make sure you have everything you need for the bear (head, body, etc.) Now you can start sewing. I would start with the ears/tail, then to the arme and legs. Then I'd do the head and the body last.

  5. Once you have finished stuffing and sewing everything, it's time to assemble. Sew the head on to the the body. The arms go on the sides. I think the bear looks better sitting but you can do him standing. Don't worry, his arm and legs are supposed to flop. His head isn't. If hi head is floppy then fix it.

  6. Now you have a full blown zombie bear. Sew on his eyes and stitch a little nose. Optional, if you think the bear lloks like Frankenstien with the neck stiches, give him a little ribbon. That should fix it.

  7. You have completed your new friend. Give him a name, better yet, make him some clothes! Maybe I'll be seeing teddy clothing tutorials soon!
