Christmas Card

Gruss vom Krampus

I am not the biggest fan of Christmas and I can't really remember a time when I was, probably many many years ago. Recently I did a little research on Krampus, Santas counterpart in the Alpine regions. Now I don't want to go into describing him too much lest I get something wrong, rather I invite you to do some research on your own. In my own research I came across Krampuskarten, cards featuring krampus and a greeting from him. My best guess is its intended to give children one last chance to start behaving before krampus came knocking. I started with an idea by looking at several cards on Google. My favorite features are the cloven hooves, fuzzy legs and lolling tongue. I sketched a few ideas before deciding on this one. The next step is deciding what colors you would like to use. Then transfer the images in pieces (I use trace paper and a light table) onto your scrapbook paper. Cut them out and layer them with glue and highlight details with sharpies or pens. When hes finished id like to add some text in fractional German. Now at this point your going to want to look up cards on Google, write down the phrases and translate them with googles translate feature or find yourself a German friend lol. Mine is going to read 'Ich bin der Krampus, gewissenlose! Nehme kleine kinder und auch grosse.
