Some parts are tricky, but other than that its easy and looks cool. ps, you'll know what i mean when you get there, but in step 5, my circle was 3 1/4 inches across, so the triangle length was 3 inches. you can just use that for a measurement instead of using a can and goin through all that trouble measuring.

Instructions

  1. Small 101221 142629 1292966949

Gather up your cards, glue, scissors and a can. The can is used as a template to make circles. The bigger the can, the bigger the circles, the bigger the ball.

  2. Small 101221 142709 1292967020

Take a card, and place the can over a decorative area, and trace around it. Repeat to all other cards.

  3. Small 101221 143329 1292967098

Once your done with the last step, cut out all of the circles. (sorry yo can see the line, it was really faint)

  4. Small 101221 143841 1292967162

Lay all of your circles off to the side. We'll get them in a minute. (Sorry, un-neccasary step)

  5. Small 101221 145152 1292968728

Ok, this is the hard step. Use your can to make another circle, this time on a regular piece of paper or tagboard and then cut out. Tagboard would be better. Take your ruler, and make an equilateral triangle,(all sides the same length, to you un-math geeks)that fits inside the circle, touching the edges. Sorry if thats confusing. See picture for example. Then cut out the triangle you've just made.

  6. Small 101221 145233 1292967542

Like I said, cut out the triangle. (another unnecassary step) I took too many pictures, so...

  7. Lay the triangle onto a circle of Christmas card, and trace. Make sure the corners of the triangle line up and don't go outside the edges of the circle.

  8. Small 101221 145611 1292967691

Then fold on the lines you just traced. If you pressed the pencil hard enough, it should fold really easy. Repeat with all other circles.

  9. Small 101221 151024 1292967753

Set out 5 circles. Ok, take 2, and put a little glue on a flap, on both. The 2 white areas in the pictures. Glue them together, and hold until they stick good.

  10. Small 101221 151048 1292967877

    There, glued together.

  11. Small 101221 151213 1292967908

Glue all 5 together, like this. Just keep adding another to an open flap, until you reach 5, then glue together. See picture.

  12. Small 101221 151346 1292967985

Repeat, and make another. You should have 10 circles left.

  13. Small 101221 151553 1292968041

This part is really confusing. Ok, by now you should have 2 half-circle things that look like hats. Take an open flap on the bottom, and glue another circle onto it. (The Santa holding the lamp) Then, go to the next open flap, and glue another circle on.(The stocking one) Then there should be 2 open flaps on the Lamp Santa and the Stocking circles. Shove another circle into the middle and glue. (The red poinsetta one) Repeat this all around.

  14. Small 101221 152020 1292968339

This is a bad pic; I'm sorry. Ok, take the 2nd "hat" you made earlier. The "bowl you just made in the last step should have flaps open around the bottom. Flip the "bowl upside down, so the flaps are sticking up. Take the "hat" and put glue on all of the flaps. Glue the hat and the bowl together.

  15. Small 101221 152207 1292968482

There, thats a better picture of the last step.

  16. Small 101221 152321 1292968519

ALL DONE! Just somehow thread a ribbon through one of the circles and...

  17. hang from somewhere with a thumbtack! It looks really complicated, but it's really not... enjoy!
