    Chips

Chips are made using the magic ring technique. Smaller chip are crocheted using 4 sc in the magic ring and larger chips are crocheted using 6 sc in the magic ring. Five to six chips of various sizes fit best on the cookie top.

  4. 4

Make a loop with the loose end to the left, and on top of the back string.

  5. 5

Reach into the center of the loop from front to back and pull the working end through to the front of the loop.

  6. 6

With that loop on the hook, yarn over and pull through the loop on the hook.

  7. 7

Essentially chaining one to secure the loop from unraveling.

  8. 8

Insert your hook through the center of the secured circle, under both the string that makes the circle, and the loose end, and draw up a loop. This is single crocheting around both strings.

  9. 9

    Two loops on your hook.

  10. 10

Yarn over and draw through both loops on hook. One single crochet made in the magic circle!

  11. 11

Continue to crochet over both strings (the one that makes the loop, and the loose end) for desired number of single crochets in your first round.

  12. 12

Now pull gently on the loose end being careful not to let your single crochets twist. And you'll get a nice, tight first round with no hole on the center!

    Finishing

If you’d like to attach your chips by sewing, sew each chip around the edges to the cookie top.

Using the long tail left on the cookie bottom, sew cookie top to bottom 3/4 of the way around. Stop and stuff lightly to maintain the flat bottom, then continue sewing.

If you’d like to glue your chips on, glue them on after the cookie has been assembled.
