Yarn:
Thread A = Small amount of variegated 12-perle cotton.
Thread B= 5-6 yards of 12-perle cotton (DMC)
Knitting Needles One pair of Size 5/0 needles (1.0mm, UK size 20) Other supplies: A small crochet hook for picking up dropped sts. Size: For a 1:12 child 2-4” tall

You Will Need (2 things)

  • 1 mm Knitting Needles
  • Yarn

Steps (4 steps, 60 minutes)

  1. 1

    BRIM
    With thread B, CO 50 sts.
    Work 8 rows in gs.
    Next Row: [K 4, K2tog] 8 times (42sts) Next row: K
    Next row: [K 3, K2tog] 8 times (34sts) Next row: K
    Next row: [K 3, K2tog) 6 times (28sts) Next row: K

    CROWN
    Row 1 (RS): K
    Row 2 (WS): P
    Row 3 & 4 (color band): With thread A, work 2 rows in st st 5-9: With thread B work in st st without shaping.
    RIM (rim is in reverse st st)
    Row 10 (WS): K
    Row 11 (RS): P
    Row 12 (WS): BO 9 st in K, K 19.
    Row 13 (RS): BO 9 sts in K, K remaining sts.

    TOP
    Work remaining 10 sts in st st for 9 rows or until the top flap is long enough to meet the back edge of the hat when the seam is pulled together. BO loosely and leave a few inches of extra thread to sew up the seams

    Finishing:
    Sew brim and crown seam. Then, with your finger inserted inside the hat, on RS, sew the top of the hat to the top of the crown. Weave in loose ends and block.
