Instructions

  1. For child's size 8: Cast on 140 sts with main color (MC). and work in round with knit 1 purl 1 (k1 p1) for two inches. change to knitting and k4 rounds, then work in stripe pattern as so:

  2. With accent color 1 (A) knit three rounds. With MC knit 3 rounds. With A, K3 rounds.

  3. Switch back to MC and knit until 10 1/2 inches from beginning.

  4. Bind off 5 sts., knit 65. Turn and put remaining sts on holder for front.

  5. NEXT ROW: Bind off 5 sts. and p to end. Work stockinette stitching (Knit one row, purl the next) for 4 3/4 inches. Work in K1 P1 for the next 1 1/4 inches

  6. Join yarn on sts and work the other side the same as the first

  7. SLEEVES: With MC cast on 33 sts. Do not join. K1 P1 for 2 inches and add 7 seven sts on last row. Knit for 4 rounds, then work in stripe pattern above. Then, working in MC Stockinette stitch increasing by 1 every 10 rows untill there are 60 sts. knit straight until 15 inches from beg. work even for another 6 rows.

  8. Pocket: Cast on 19 sts and k 2 rows with MC.   9. Sew all seams together and sew on pocket

  10. FOR DOLL SWEATER: SAME SUPPLIES

  11. Cast on 28 sts. Knit purl stitch for 4 rows. Change to MC yarn and knit stocking stitch for 3 rows. Knit one row with A knit one row with MC knit one with B. Switch back to MC and knit for another 16 rows. Row 25: cast off 8 sts in the middle of the front and continiue knitting the left and right parts of the front separately. There will be 10 sts on each side remaining. Rows 26-30: stocking stitch. Knit 2 rows knit purl ribbing. Cast off.

  12. DO the same for back

  13. Cast on 20 sts Knit purl ribbing stitch for 4 rows. Change to MC yarn and knit stocking stitch for 3 rows. Using A knit 1 row. MC another row. B knit another row. Switch back to MC and knit for another 18 rows. Increase for 1 sts on both sides in 7th, 13th, 19th and 25th rows. Cast off.

  14. Knit 6X6 size square. Use A to sew in flower and sew all seams together, then sew on pocket.
