Description

These little pin cushions come together in no time and they are so easy!

Instructions

  1. Small img 0643 1296822911

I used a 7 inch single to measure out squares of material.

  2. Small img 0647 1296822940

Make sure they are contrasting patterns or colours.

  3. Small img 0649 1296822968

Place two squares together and fold in half, ironing them to make a seam.

  4. Small img 0654 1296823019

Open the material out again, and sew along either side of the seam.

  5. Small img 0656 1296823053

    Now cut along the seam.

  6. Small img 0657 1296823098

You'll end up with two squares made up of two triangles. Open out and iron flat.

  7. Small img 0661 1296823113

Now cut out a template for the chicken's comb and beak, making the comb roughly 1/4 to 1/3 the length of the square.

  8. Small img 0665 1296823195

Cut the shapes out of red and orange felt, and pin in place on the 'outside' or neat side of the material, with the seam away from you, keeping the pins away from the edge.

  9. Place the other piece of material seam-side-up like this.

  10. Small img 0668 1296823295

Sew along the top, bottom and left edges, leaving the right side open for now. Turn inside out, and admire your growing chicken. :)

  11. Small img 0669 1296823333

Place an eye on each side like this. You can use snap-on eyes like I have, or googlie eyes.

  12. Cut out two triangles out of felt - these will form the tail.

  13. Small img 0671 1296823500

Fold in the scrappy edges on the open side and pin.

  14. Small img 0672 1296823512

Pin your tail triangles in place like this. You're aiming for a pyramid shape.

  15. Small img 0673 1296823530

Sew up the remaining edge, leaving about 1/2 an inch open for filling the chicken.

  16. Small img 0675 1296823589

Insert a funnel into the open hole.

  17. Small img 0676 1296823605

Fill with lentils until your chicken is stuffed. Sew up the remaining hole and admire your chicken!
