This is very similar to how I made the Anchor Bag (minus the elastic) =)
This is very similar to how I made the Anchor Bag (minus the elastic) =)
First step is choose the kind of material you want to use, I choose this nice pink cherry colour - How much you need depends on how big you want your bag so its totally up to you :)
The next thing that I did, was take the longest side of fabric that I had and cut a piece about 14cm wide, then set this aside. This will become the strap- so again if you wish for a different size cut the width double to what you want the end product to be!!
Next you need to cut out the actual bag, for mine I cut about 28cm wide (including seam allowance)- then fold in half right sides together
Once you have your sides facing each other, pin or in my case peg along, then sew up each side as many times as you want
Now sew along the top of each side to create a neat edge
For the strap you need to fold in half, right sides together and sew all the way down and across the top OR bottom- but don't sew up both edges!
Now you will have to pull the strap through so its right side out!
Last step is to sew the strap on the inside of the bag - where the seam is and make sure you go over it more then once for extra strength- then you are done! Flip it right side out and decorate with lace, ribbon, buttons or anything else you can imagine!
