I started with the idea to make a cannibal girl but I got the idea to make her a cave girl when I came upon this dirty little dollar store plushie. I will making a cannibal girl soon tho.
I start by laying out my dowels and cutting them to length. I add tabs for the knee joints and just drill holes in the arms for wire but I have made tab joints before so feel free to do so. I glue the wooden balls/beads in place (feel free to use whatever size you wish) then I fill in the negative space with clay and paper mache. And that's your basic body.
Here you can see that the joint is simple and just attached with some wire. I tapered the lower leg down just for appeal.

Here we have a chunk of pink foam, I carved it into a rough stone shaped seat, and carefully and with adequate ventilation used a Candle lighter to singe it and give it a slightly more organic shape. The reason you need ventilation is because the gas is poisonous, you can bypass this all together by spending the extra time carving it.
This little toy was kinda dirty and falling apart so I took it apart and cut the top portion off to be a head dress and used another piece of it for her skirt/loincloth. I'm a fan of using cleaned and sealed bones in projects here and there, so I used one here too. To attach a small amount of meat to it I simply glued on little bits of ripped sponge and painted it. Her hair is hemp and her shoes are crayola model magic. She has been Censored for modesty lol
