My niece's birthday is coming up and she loves kitties, pink, and purple. I wanted to give her a game - and Tic-Tac-Toe is perfect for her age. She's a girly girl, so I wanted to make it fun and pretty! The game in a purse form was perfect.

You Will Need (7 things)
- 1 16" x 16" Batting
- 2 Fabric 16" x 16"
- 1 Cording 1 yd
- 1 Cord Stop (optional)
- 10 Tic Tac Toe Game Pieces (2 groups of 5)
- Sewing Equipment Sewing machine, thread, pins, etc.
- 4 16" Twill Tape (or something to make stripes)
Steps (11 steps, 120 minutes)
-
1
You need a 16" x 16" piece of batting, fabric for the outside of the pouch, and fabric for the inside of the pouch.
-
2
On the fabric that will be the inside of the purse (the tic-tac-toe board) sew 4 stripes to make the board pattern. I sewed them 5.5" from the edge to make 5" squares after sewing with a .5" seam allowance.
-
3
Then take the outside fabric and chalk a circle on it. Try to make it really big. Chalk this on the RIGHT side of the fabric.
-
4
Then somewhere on that circle line sew a button hole. I made mine about .5" inches long.
-
5
Then layer as following from bottom up:
Batting
Inside board fabric (right side facing up)
Outside fabric (wrong side facing up) -
6
Sew around the edges (.5" seam allowance), and remember to leave about a 3" gap to flip the fabric out. After sewing I clipped the corners and snipped the sides.
-
7
After flipping it inside out, the batting should now be on the inside. I ironed it flat and then used the chalk circle drawn earlier as a reference to sew two circles through all of the layers. The button hole should fit between both circles.
-
8
Cording was pulled through the circle and closed with a cord stop.
-
9
Don't forget hand sew that 3" gap from earlier!

Ta-da! You've got a Tic-Tac-Toe Pouch!
I made my play pieces from felt, embroidery thread, and a little stuffing, but you can use whatever you want!

To close simply pile the pieces together in the middle of the circle, pull on the cord, and use the cord stop to cinch it tight.
