  • How to make a pendant necklace. Butterfly Necklace - Step 1
    Step 1

Make a rectangle of felt. I did this one with about 5 layers alternating grey and purple with a cross of pink to be used as the butterfly wings.

  • Step 2

Once the felt is completely dry then cut out a butterfly shape. You can do this free hand but I used a paper template that I had drawn first.

  • Step 3

You need to make the embellishments that you want for the butterfly. I did several coils which I then hammered flat. I also added antennae by poking wire through from the back and bending it into shape.

  • Step 4

Attach these to the felt. I used some beads to help secure them. Add any other embroidered decoration you choose.

  • Step 5

Cut wire to fit round your neck and attach the butterfly. I sewed it on as this was the most secure way because of the weight of the wings.

The final things is to make a clasp on the necklace so it is easy to wear. This can be hammered once again for strength if desired.
