Butterfly Gift Decoration

Easy-to-make homemade butterflies!

I thought of this idea when I noticed my feathery butterflies on my wall and thought that there must by an easy way to make them yourself. Only it didn't really work with feathers so I used fabric instead! They still look really lovely on your wall but I think they look better on presents and gift bags. Happy Crafting! P.S Sorry the template isn't very good!

I thought of this idea when I noticed my feathery butterflies on my wall and thought that there must by an easy way to make them yourself. Only it didn't really work with feathers so I used fabric instead! They still look really lovely on your wall but I think they look better on presents and gift bags. Happy Crafting! Instructions

  1. Collect together your equipment!

  2. Small dsc00851 1309277749

Fold your fabric in half and draw 'half a butterfly' - like the picture. Don't forget that the reason why the fabric is folded over is so that you make two butterflies - one the front and one for the back! Or you can try and use the template! Then cut it out - you should have two butterflies!

  3. Take a strip of tissue paper and fold it up into a small tube measuring around 3-4cm long! The size/length depends on how big your butterfly is!

  4. Twist this strip of tissue paper and secure with glue. Stick the strip down the middle of butterfly. Repeat this step for the other fabric butterfly.

  5. Now you show have two butterflies - but what about the antennae I hear you ask...

  6. Grab two paper clips and gently un-curl them. Either wrap them round a pencil to create a curl or simply curl them with your fingers to create the antennae.

  7. Turn one butterfly onto its back and put glue all over it. Place the antennae just either side of the 'body' and finally stick the other side of the butterfly on. Leave it to dry for about 15- 30 minutes. Ta Da - your very own, one of a kind, double-sided butterfly gift decoration!
