You Will Need (5 things)
- 1 yd Biker Chain
- 1 yd Mini Black Chain
- 2 Large Iron On Butterfly Appliqué s
- Glue Gun
- 1 Hair Elastic
Steps (17 steps, 20 minutes)
-
1
Gather materials and plug in your glue gun.
-
2
With your jewelry plyer (or your fingers, these chains are pretty easy to twist off), cut one 20" piece of biker chain, and one 20" piece of mini black chain.
-
3
With the plyer, carefully open the end links of both chains. Leave only enough space to slip the hair elastic through.
-
4
Attach the chain link to the hair elastic.
-
5
Close the link with the plyer.
-
6
Repeat with the other chain.
-
7
You are going to repeat the last two steps with the other ends of the 20" chains.
-
8
Here is the chain necklace.
-
9
Bring out your first butterfly applique.
-
10
Flip the applique so it is upside down.
-
11
Place a line of hot glue along the back of the applique. See the next step photo for a better idea of where the line should go.
-
12
Secure the chain on the applique with the hot glue. Be careful not to burn your fingers! We pushed down the chain with a pen cap.
-
13
Bring out the second butterfly applique.
-
14
Cover the first butterfly/chain applique with a generous amount of hot glue.
-
15
Now place the second butterfly on top of the glue. This is going to make the necklace reversible! You can always use a different color butterfly so that the necklace has two wearable options!
-
16
Press down firmly. You want to make sure that it is secure.
-
17
And now you have it! Let the glue dry (only takes a few minutes) and put on your necklace! The hair elastic makes the necklace stretchy so you can just pull it over your head :)
