Everyday Celebration Perler Bead Necklace :) (without the peg board)

I saw these bunting necklaces circling the net a while back only most were made of leather and were less colourful, I love animals so I will never wear leather if I can help it and I love colour so this is a win win! (I also saw some made of paper and some of ceramics or glass) I found this necklace not only fun to wear as a necklace but is nice as a headband too! The Perler beads (or Hama beads) turn out really flat and no peg board is needed!

Description

I saw these bunting necklaces circling the net a while back only most were made of leather and were less colourful, I love animals so I will never wear leather if I can help it and I love colour so this is a win win! (I also saw some made of paper and some of ceramics or glass) I found this necklace not only fun to wear as a necklace but is nice as a headband too! The Perler beads (or Hama beads) turn out really flat and no peg board is needed!

Instructions

  1. Small dsc03335 1318540354

You will need the primary colours (blue, red and yellow) and the secondary colours (purple, green and orange) Find 5 beads of each colour.

  2. Small dsc03336 1318540395

Cut the beads in half keeping the colours sorted.

  3. Small dsc03247 1318540477

Set the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Make 6 little piles of each colour and place them onto a cookie sheet into the oven for 10 minutes. See picture: Open the oven and let cool for a moment then knead them into a ball. BE CAREFUL NOT TO BURN YOUR HANDS! Place into the oven once more for 5 minutes then get them out.

  4. Small dsc03248 1318540658

Set your iron. Place another cookie sheet on top of the little piles of plastic. Use a flat surface such as a workbench so you can press harder when you iron. Press the piles flat to about 1 to 2 mm.

  5. Small dsc03249 1318540990

With the sticky part of a Post-It note make your template. My flags measure 1.5cm horizontally and 1.2 vertically.

  6. Small dsc03250 1318541037

Stick the template onto the plastic and cut the little flags with scissors.

  7. Small dsc03252 1318541096

Pinch holes in the corners of the longest side (1.5cm) of the flag.

  8. Small dsc03251 1318541111

Connect the flags with jump rings. Start with orange then red, purple, blue, green and the yellow one last.

  9. Small dsc03254 1318541171

Attach an extra jump ring to the orange flag and the yellow flag on the other end of the bunting. Attach a chain onto one end of the bunting and connect the other end of the chain to the other end of the bunting. (my chain measures 51cm)
