for when you need to put on your thinking cap.
I found some great patterns for Halloween hats in Crochet today (September 2010 issue). The first one I tried was this brain cap. My boyfriend was sweet enough to model it. I really like the ruffle technique and think I will experiment with it on another hat that is not meant to look like brains.

Another options is to purchase it through the web site, Yarn Collection. http://www.yarncollection.com/Product/Crochet+Today++SeptOct++2010.aspx

It says it's only $5.99 through their web site. I don't know what the shipping cost would be but it might be worth checking out.

I actually crocheted the ruffles onto the cap. So you single crochet the first row through the loops of the hat. Then you increase back over each stitch until you get the ruffle effect.

I went to the American Book Center today so I could buy the magazine for the pattern, but instead of the american price (8 dollars) it was 10 euros! (12 dollars!!) So I didn't buy it Happy Btw, did you have to sew the ruffles on or through front loops?

It was pretty easy. It's a simple cap of rounds and then you single crochet the brain ruffles on top of the cap and then just increase several rows to create the ruffling effect.

Please post a pic if you make it!

Thanks everyone for your comments.
