  • Step 1

First, take a t shirt and cut off the sleeves at a slight angle to the neck. Then take the back of the shirt and tie the back so it looks like the picture. Basically you put a length of fabric through the sleeves on the back of the t shirt, and then tie the string together. Simple!

    Step 2

Cut one 1/4 inch strip from the collar all the way to where you tied the back together. Do this on both sides, front and back. Make sure you don't cut through the collar and that you don't cut it off the t shirt. Keep it connected.
Then, take your sleeve and cut long, continuous pieces and start braiding them into the strips attatched to the shirt. If you run out, just tie a new piece and keep braiding!

Do this only for the front of the t shirt, not the part you tied together. The goal is to braid a piece that will go from the collar and be a trim along the arm holes. So in other words, from the collar all the way to the part where you tied the back together, then secure with a pin.

This is what it should look like when you get done. Notice there isn't a trim on tthe back of the shirt.

Now pin the braid along the armholes and secure with needle and thread.

See how the braid stops about halfway on the collar? That's what you want.

    Step 6

Depending on how long you want the back piece to drop down, braid a long piece, and attach either side to make it meet with the end so it looks like one continuous piece.

    See?

    Simple, but looks complicated!
