I've always been really into interesting pieces and accessories. One day I sitting around joking with friends about Doctor Who and how awesome bow ties are when I thought - if bow ties are so awesome why does no one wear them? I set to work, grabbing a random piece of fabric and my sewing kit, I'm quite impressed with the results and I hope you'll grow to love your bow ties!

Instructions

  1. Small step 1

Find your piece of fabric and cut it into a 4.5 x 6 inch rectangle. (Ah! The '4' got cut off!)

  2. Small step 2

Fold your fabric in half (the long way) (make sure the side you DON'T want showing is facing out!)

  3. Small step 3

Sew one of the short edges and the long edge leaving the final edge open.

  4. Turn the rectangle inside out (using the side you left open).

  5. Small step 4

Carefully sew the open side of the rectangle closed.

  6. Small step 5

Find the middle of the rectangle and pinch it. Sew it into place. (If you want you can sew a strip of fabric around the middle to cover the stitches.)

  7. Small step 6

Measure the amount of elastic needed to comfortably reach around your neck. Once you have cut that amount, find the center of the strand and sew it to the back of the bow.

  8. Small step 7

Sew the button onto one of the ends of the elastic and create a small hole in the other end. Voila! You just created a lovely bow tie to accent all your best outfits!
