Elastic headband made from a tank top
My steps are written long, but this is super easy. I had a beautiful lace tank top that didn't fit. I had also been looking at headbands online. So, given that I had no money, I managed to merge the two. I have nearly no supplies on me, so all you need is the tank top with elastic bands (bra might work, too) and a sewing kit. You might be able to glue the bow on the elastic, but I didn't try it.

    Step 1

Cut elastic band from tank top (or bra). Thread the elastic back through the adjustable plastic piece. This will save you sewing and allow your headband to be adjustable.

Cut a strip of the main material of the tank (or bra). For me it's the red lace. The strip should be about and inch wide and the strip should be about 12". Tie the strip into a simple bow. You can play with the width and length to change the size of the bow. My tank had a finished (pink) bow which I sewed onto the bigger bow.

Once your bow is finished, sew the bow on the elastic. I just went through the back of the main bow and sewed in place. Once you feel it is secure, make sure your stretch the band a little to make sure it can withstand the stretching. Now it is ready to wear! Just give yourself plenty of slack on the adjustable end!

    Step 4

Cut a strip of material from the main tank top (or bra) mine was read lace. A strip of about an inch wide and 12" just make sure it's long enough to tie a basic bow, so...tie a basic bow with the main material. I also added the pink bow that was already on my tank top.

    Step 5

Using the needle and thread, sew the bow to the elastic. I sewed through the back loop of the bow just basically stitching in place until I felt it was strong enough. I made sure to stretch out the band to make sure the sewing job was holding. Now you're done. Sport your headband!
