I have a friend who, like my (good?) self, plays the double bass semi-professionally. And also, being a fellow crafty-type, she also appreciates hand-made presents. And finally, our birthdays are a week apart! Hers on the 1st, mine on the 8th So I felt that, this year (being our 18ths), I should make her a special present. I finally took some pictures of said special gift, and here they are. Can you guess what it is yet? No? It's a double bass bow case! When not using the bass, you slip you bow into the bag, and tie it around the bass' neck to keep it safely out of the way. Pretty and practical! It says "Dennis" on it, by the way - the name of her double bass I made it from a purple fleece scarf that I found - it was the perfect size, so I thought it was fate and went with it. The writing is just glittery gold fabric paint, and I've blanket stitched with purple ribbon yarn all the way around the seam to make it a little prettier. The tie is just a turquoise ribbon. I hope she'll like it It's her birthday party tomorrow, and since I haven't seen her for months, that's when she'll get it.
