You Will Need (6 things)

  • Metallic flower pin Brooch
  • Stretch velvet Ribbon
  • Pearl Chain Trim
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Needle & Thread

Steps (13 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

Gather your materials and plug in your hot glue gun.

  2. 2

Measure your head where you prefer the band to sit. Subtract 1" from that measurement and cut trim accordingly.

  3. 3

Cut a generous length of pearl chain trim - lay it out on your headband to see how much length of trim you want dangling around your head. Cut accordingly.

  4. 4

Cut an additional 2" piece of velvet trim.

  5. 5

Create headband by affixing two ends together, reinforcing with 2" piece as shown. Let cool completely.

  6. 6

Using your threaded needle, secure the pearl chain to the headband with a loop stitch as shown.

Tip: Be semi-arbitrary. The look is more edgy and fashion-forward if the sections hang unevenly.

  7. 7

Thread needle. Space pearl trim out on headband as shown.

  8. 8

Pull thread taught in the back so its visibility is minimized on the front.

Tip: If desired, attach additional jewels/charms to the pearl chain with jewelry hoops - be creative!

  9. 9

    Pin metallic flower to headband.

  10. 10

If you're feeling ambitious, remove center of flower (will include several layers of petals). You'll have to glue or stitch the remaining layers in place. This will lighten up the accessory and open up new DIY possibilities...

  11. 11

If you have some flat back gems laying around, this is the perfect chance to use them.

  12. 12

Add a gem to the center of the flower with hot glue for extra drama.

  13. 13

    Voila - try it on!
