I found a pair of boots that I loved online. I did not want to spend the money they wanted for them and devised a way to refashion a pair of boots I had purchased prior. I am SOOO in love with my refashioned boots, I got what I wanted and didn't have to break the bank to get them!

Description

I found a pair of boots that I loved online. I did not want to spend the money they wanted for them and devised a way to refashion a pair of boots I had purchased prior. I am SOOO in love with my refashioned boots, I got what I wanted and didn't have to break the bank to get them!

Instructions

  1. Small 109084 2f2015 05 28 151037 before

I purchased these boots from a Thrift Store about a year ago. They were brand new made by Charles Jourdan. The heel of the boot is not exactly what I wanted, but for the price I purchased them for, I could not refuse

  2. Small 109084 2f2015 05 28 151202 where%2bto%2bcut

I measured where I wanted the boots to sit on my ankle. I am not the skinniest or tallest woman and mid calf boots make me look shorter and squattier. Once I figured out where I needed to cut everything, I got out my cutting sheers and cut them up and removed the tongue. I will say, getting the tongue out of the boots was not the easiest task I have ever performed.

  3. Small 109084 2f2015 05 28 151455 neopaque%2bblack

I cleaned my boots with rubbing alcohol to remove all the shine / finish off of them. Very lightly scuffed the leather and painted the boots with Jacquard - Neopaque black paint (I LOVE this paint). I also painted the bows that I made out of leather I had purchased at a local market.

  4. Small 109084 2f2015 05 28 151718 during

This is a very bad picture of what they looked like during the process.

  5. Small 109084 2f2015 05 28 151858 e 6000

Once I cut and painted the boots I glued the edges of the leather where I had cut to the lining of the boot. I used E-6000, I like this glue, however, it smells HORRIBLE, leaves glue strings, and if not used properly, is generally just a Pain in the ASS.

  6. Small 109084 2f2015 05 28 152117 trim

Ok, once the glue was properly cured for the leather and lining, I found some trim at Walmart that I liked, it is kind of Victorian looking, wide enough to cover my jagged cut marks, and very messy glue job I did for the leather and lining. I used the E-600 (again) went around the outer edge of the boots and glued the trim on. I did hold the trim in place with bobby pins waiting for the noxious glue to dry

  7. I do not have a picture for this, but I made the bows for the front. the bottom bow is a little larger than the top. Once I had made the bows, I got out the Neopaque Paint and painted them black. I sewed the bows to the top of the shoe at the tongue area because I knew I was not going to be removing them. the bows at the top have an "O" Ring running thru them to hold the boots shut and also hold the bows in place.

ok, so, here you go. I did touch up the paint anywhere that glue had gotten on them, I absolutely LOVE these, I am happy with them all the way around. Let me know if you have any questions, I will help out as much as I can!
