Bohemian Chic Skirt

Structured Asymmetrical Skirt

About

This was a project a friend of mine had started with an old T, based on project #67 "Bohemian Wrapsody" in "Megan Nicolay's "Generation T" (p. 170). My friend had cut the skirt in an asymmetrical way to fashion a kerchief wrap skirt closed with a pin. I liked the drape, but wanted to make the skirt a bit more sturdy. I was limited, cause I had to stick with the basic shape she'd already cut.
First, I took the places along the front overlap where she's secured the sides with pins, and I added a cross-stitch in a contrasting color to close the skirt. I decided it was a little short on the side over my knee, so I slipped a diamond-shaped piece of black scrap under the skirt and sewed it on. Then I added decorative buttons for detail - one at the folded over part at the waist, and one towards the bottom. I also cut some of the original material to hang in fringe over the black scrap.
