Blobs are one of my favorite things to knit! They're a great project to make with leftover yarn.
The blobs were inspired when Jake Romano (my graphic designer) saw one of my unfinished projects, which was just a little white blob with eyes, and requested that I make him one in orange. The next thing, all our friends had to have one!
They're simple, squishy, and fun to make! Perfect as a desk buddy or stress ball. Makes a good first project if you're just learning how to knit in the round.

Blobs are about 4 inches tall and across.
I used Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn with a US 6/4mm circular knitting needle (interchangeable with DPNs). You will also need scissors, a tapestry/darning needle, polyester stuffing, and safety eyes.
STS - Stitches
K - Knit
KFB - Knit front and back
K2Tog - Knit 2 together
Ok! Let's start!~
Tightly cast on 6 sts onto 3 needles and join in a round.
Rnd1: [kfb] 6 times. (12 sts)
Even rounds 2-12: Knit around.
Rnd3: [kfb, K1] 6 times. (18 sts)
Rnd5: [kfb, K2] 6 times. (24 sts)
Rnd7: [kfb, K3] 6 times. (30 sts)
Rnd9: [kfb, K4] 6 times. (36 sts)
Rnd11: [kfb, K5] 6 times. (42 sts)
Rnd13: [kfb, K6] 6 times. (48 sts)
Rnd14-20: Knit around.
If you want, you can continue knitting for a another 5 rounds to make your blob a little more round.
Rnd21: [K6, k2tog] 6 times. (42 sts)
Even rounds 22-32: Knit around.
Rnd23: [K5, k2tog] 6 times. (36 sts)
Rnd25: [K4, k2tog] 6 times. (30 sts)
Rnd27: [K3, k2tog] 6 times. (24 sts)
Rnd29: [K2, k2tog] 6 times. (18 sts)
Stuff fully before continuing. Attach safety eyes around the center of where you did 7 knit rows about 6-8 sts apart.
Rnd31: [K1, k2tog] 6 times. (12 sts)
Rnd33: [k2tog] 6 times. (6 sts)
Break yarn and draw tightly through the stitches with your tapestry needle. Weave in the loose ends from the cast on and where you ended.
Voila! You've made a new friend! :D
