(Makes 25-30 Cookies)
Place the butter in a large bowl and cream it with a spoon. Add the sugar and cream in.
Beat an egg and mix in the golden syrup.
Mix together the flour, salt and baking soda. Sift this mixture in to the wet mixture.
Add the cinnamon and ginger and mix together. If you want to add a little bit more zing to the cookies grate in some pure ginger.
Flour a surface and roll the mixture in to a nice thick dough. Roll the dough out using a rolling pin.
Cut out little gingerbread boys and girls using cookie cutters.
Lay them out on to a greases baking tray and cook in an oven for 10 minutes at 350°F.
Decorate them using glace icing and anything else you like. Post photos of how yours turn out.
