You Will Need

Step 1
Using cold water, rinse a shirt of your choice (I have not found that content matters, i.e. cotton, polyester, a blend, etc.); then wring it out.

Step 2
Use rubber bands to isolate portions of the shirt. These will be the areas that are unaffected/less affected by the bleaching. There are many ways to tie the rubberbands; and these can be searched for on Google (or any other search engine). Mine were random.

Step 3
Put on your gloves (bleach, even the household kind, can eat away at bare skin). Standing outside or over a sink, pour the bleach over the shirt. Be sure to cover all areas of the shirt. Your rubberbands will be tight enough to keep it off of the ties areas. (Be sure to do this in a well-ventilated area if you aren't outside!)

Step 4
Leave the shirt wet with bleach for approximately 3 hours. Leaving it on for more/less time will cause different amounts of color change (experiment with this!) so check on your shirt from time to time.

Step 5
Run cold water over your shirt as you remove the rubberbands. Rinse the shirt well and wring it out. Let it hang to dry overnight if possible.
