A Rat Queens themed upcycled T-shirt project!
I still have roughly a million old shirts that I need to do something with and thankfully I found this super cool technique online, called bleach dying.I had actually never heard of this before, so I got super excited and knew I had to do something with it basically immediately. I also really wanted to do something Rat Queens themed, which is for sure one of my favorite new comic books. It’s basically a comic about an all female D&D style adventure campaign and it goes about exactly how your most ridiculous D&D campaigns have gone. If you’ve ever had to DM for a group of “kill first, ask questions later” this comic will speak to you on a deep spiritual level.
Next make sure that you protect the parts of the shirt that you don’t want to get sprayed with bleach. Make a solution of one parts bleach to two parts water (you won’t need a lot for this) and put it in your spray bottle. Spray down your stencil, then blot dry very carefully so as not to disturb your stencil and repeat a second time. Don’t do it any more times than that!
Remove your stencil, take out the cardboard and dunk your shirt into a cold tap water bath immediately to stop the bleach dying process. Be very thorough otherwise your bleach will continue to do its work. Then just toss into the dryer and wear once it’s dry with your cool new artwork on it.
