Fanciful makeup of the bird type.

I realized as I went through the photos that Pheonix colours were not the best choice, as the yellow and gold have a hard time showing up. I apologise. Aslo take note that I forgot my makeup at my friend's house, so am using my little sister's dollar store stuff for the most part. You will get much better results if you have good makeup and more time. This is just a tutorial to get the basics down, enjoy!

Description

I realized as I went through the photos that Pheonix colours were not the best choice, as the yellow and gold have a hard time showing up. I apologise. Aslo take note that I forgot my makeup at my friend's house, so am using my little sister's dollar store stuff for the most part. You will get much better results if you have good makeup and more time. This is just a tutorial to get the basics down, enjoy!

Instructions

  1. Small 1 1024x680 1314401323

Ok, here we go! Start off with a clean face, and make sure your hair is pinned out of the way. If you're going to use foundation (I recomend you do, I just forgot mine at a sleepover) Put it on now.

  2. Small 2 1024x680 1314401334

COLOURS!!! The brighter the better, and it's good to have lots of choice. I'm in a Harry Potter mood so I'm going to choose Pheonix colours. I'd say pick only three or four complimentary colours. I picked chick yellow, dawn orange and burnt orange. (Red would have been choice, but I don't have any on hand.)

  3. Small 3 1024x680 1314401338

Start with your Lightest colour, and put it everywhere. (it's hard to see I know :P) Fan it out from the corner of your eye to your temple, and down across your cheek.

  4. Small 4 1024x680 1314401347

Now your second colour. Start from the middle of your lid, and fan out the same as the first colour. Don't bother to blend yet.

  5. Small 5 1024x680 1314401355

With the third colour, start from the corner of the eye and again, fan out. You;ll need some under your eye as well, and if you have pale brows you can colour then out with this shade.

  6. Small 6 1024x680 1314401371

BLENDING TIME! Don't do a lot of blending, as you want to keep the slightly feathered look you've got going. You want the transistion between colours to still be obvious, but not straight lines.

  7. Small 7 1024x680 1314401381

To make the outline, use your eyeliner. I only had a crappy one on hand, but it'll work.

  8. Small 8 1024x680 1314401387

for a guide, make a dot on the indent of your nose. this will be the point of the beak.

  9. Small 9 1024x680 1314401394

then draw a line like <---------this....

  10. Small 10 1024x680 1314401405

... and another like <-------this. These make the shape of the bird's head.

  11. Small 11 1024x680 1314401416

Shade in the beak as large or dark as you wish. For the feathers, do a light back and forth zig zag type motion making uneven triangles. Think feather like!!

  12. Small 12 1024x680 1314401427

To make it more detailed, Press down and flick the pencil out giving you more.... airy lines.

  13. Small 13 1024x680 1314401449

Outline your eye, and bring the line out a half inche from your eye, then do the same feather like motion as you did for the outside edge.

  14. Small 14 1024x680 1314401465

Take your darkest colour and make the part between the two edges as vibrant as possible. Now is the time to fillin the colours as bright as you can, and clean up the edges.

  15. Small 15 1024x680 1314401479

SHIMMERS!!! Make it shiny for more highlights.

  16. Small 16 1024x680 1314401499

It should look something along these lines.

  17. Small 17 1024x680 1314401505

now for the birds chest. I like wavy lines, but harsh edges would work for a meaner bird like a crow.

  18. Small 18 1024x680 1314401518

Make sure to make the colour light, so it contrasts the erst of the bird.

  19. Small 19 1024x680 1314401533

Now get your pretty coloured eyeliner. detial away! I added gold sparkles to the start of the beak, and organge sparkles to the edges of the middle feathers.

  20. Small 20 1024x680 1314401550

I decided the dark organge wasn't cutting it, so I used a cheap lipstick to deepen the colour.

  21. Small 21 1024x680 1314401561

Remember, always keep the strokes light and airy, don't blend too much.

  22. Small 22 1024x680 1314401571

Add liner to your water lin if you'd like, and Mascara so your eyelashes add umph.

  23. Small 23 1024x680 1314401584

With the lips you can go a couple ways. A) A Bold red, as bold as you can find. B) Black, More contrast, or C) one of the colour from your eye pallet, in this case I would have picked Gold. Whatever your primary colour, use the eye shadow to colour in your lips.

  24. Small done 2 680x1024 1314403911

Ta-da! all done! You're ready for your photo shoot/ costume party/ whatever. (Well, your face is. ) NOTE!! Make sure to scrub this off your face or you will get pimples like you can't believe! Also, the lower the quality of makeup, the longer it will take to get off your face. I used cheap junk and had to scrub for twenty minutes.
