Big Hook Chunky Blanket

Keep warm and snug on cold winter nights

This creation came about from a desperate need to try out a 25mm wooden crochet hook I bought from a craft fair. That, combined with an imminent Father's Day and a Dad who lives in a draughty house, led me to believe I could whip up a seriously chunky blanket to be used in winter. Firstly, I had to hunt down a masculine coloured yarn and found that James C Brett did a nice rich brown with gorgeous flecks and sections of teal blue. It's gently variegated too which gives a nice effect. It's pretty hard to photograph in a way that does the colour justice, but hopefully you can see the colour changes. It's ridiculously easy to make, the only thing you have to do is get used to the feel and weight of a massive crochet hook. Once you're into the rhythm of it the blanket takes no time at all.
