i did a lot of research for this. i built the helmet out of cardboard and used bubble packaging for a softer "lego" look. i then wrapped everything in duct tape and painted it. i also made the jetpack/airtank the same except i skipped the bubble packaging. i then made the straps by sewing a really long strip out a t shirt and putting it through little holes in the "backplate" backpack style (the original lego piece had it hang from the neck. that obviously wasn't going to hang with me*snerk*) i made a bunch of stencils to paint the logo on the shirt. (one wasn't going to cut it.*haha*) i sewed a pair of mittens out of blue and yellow t shirts. i think the most expensive thing i bought was the blue vans i wore with it. (about 15$ at value village!) i just repainted the helmet and jetpack/airtank because it predictably started peeling. i'll post the new paintjob later. ________________________ i made this after seeing The Lego Movie, and i wore it to free Comic Book Day. the employees loved it!!! one girl completely fangirled in front of me and told me i'd "won" FCBD.
