    Step 1

this is all you need to get started. the number of bobby pins you'll need depends on your hair type and how secure the beehive feels, sometimes i use 5, sometimes i use 15 so just have them at the ready.

i prefer to start with second or third day hair as i don't wash my hair every day, and doing a beehive on freshly washed hair means i'll have to wash it again the next day because it's teased and full of hairspray.

    Step 3

start by sectioning off your hair right at your forehead, or right behind your fringe if you have one like me. hold it up in the air and tease the roots with your comb.

give it a good dose of hairspray and repeat for another section or two behind it, depending on how big you want your beehive to be. and to get it looking full, tease and hairspray the front side sections of your hair too.

when you're done your hair should look something like this. gather all the sections you've teased together and hold them up in the air. start from the tips of your hair and wrap them around your fingers and roll your hair down towards your head.

when you reach your head, put your hair slide in and secure with bobby pins. it doesn't matter if it still looks really messy at this stage.

then we neaten it up with the comb and some more hairspray to keep it all in place. my beehives always look lumpy until this stage, but i pull in certain places to loosen my hair, or i pin some places to make them tighter.

and voila - a half up beehive! and if you want the rest of your hair to be up too, i often plait and it pin it up, or you can put it in a ponytail or a bun or however you like to style it.
