This is a very pretty and easy style top for a casual summer day. There are only 2 patterns pieces for this project, therefore the assembly steps are quite simple. However, your sewing challenge will be the finishing. The hemming will require patience and focus. Don’t rush and using lots of pins will help.

However, your sewing challenge will be the finishing. The hemming will require patience and focus. Don’t rush and using lots of pins will help.

Instructions

  1. Print your pdf pattern Follow the column and row numbers, tape the pages together, matching the corner markings. Size chart: Tween sizes Chest measurement S/M 24” – 27” M/L 28” – 32” Adjut / Teen sizes Chest measurement S/M 32” – 38” M/L 39’ – 43”

    Fabric cutting: - Front: cut 1 on fold - Back: cut 2

    Stitch the front and back together at shoulder. - With the good sides of the fabric facing together, pin the shoulder seams and stitch. Your seam allowance is 1/2"

    - Serge the seam or zig zag the seam if you don’t have a serger

    Press your seam flat to one side

    Stitch the side seams together.

    Serge the seam or zig zag the seam if you don’t have a serger

    Here comes the long step! It’s time to hem the neck and the armhole! - Fold up the edge ¼” twice toward the wrong side of the fabric and pin

    Stitch close to the inside folded edge, this will be tricky as your fabric will want to shift and move as you stitch. It will help if you pull the fabric slightly to gain control

    Repeat the same for the armhole

    Hem the bottom edge - Fold up the bottom edge ¼” twice toward the wrong side of the fabric and pin

    when you get to the corner, make a little clip to allow the hem to lay smooth

    Stitch close to the inside folded edge

    Congrats! You are done! Pair the top with a pair of shorts and you are summer ready!
