I got a new pair of flip-flops with a pattern of cherries, and I already had cherry pattern hoop earrings. They needed a necklace and I figured I could put one together with stuff I already had.

I'm not really a beader (and I know it shows) but I think it came out cute, just the same. =) I used two pairs of round nose pliers to shape the wire and found it easier for me.

I made the necklace with polyester satin cord and recycled ribbon clamps. I twisted it using the tension method and a power drill. (It makes tension twisting so much faster and easier, and it also allows you to twist a two-ply cord, whereas a hand-twisted cord must be at least four-ply.)

If you're not familiar with tension twisting, here's a tutorial:

To use a power drill, instead of twisting one end by hand, you clamp one end of the cord into the bit clamp and spin it at low speed.
