About

I had an old Shirt with some silver stars and thought it would be nice fabric for a bathing suit...i used the elastic on the top of the shirt as the elastic for the panties. Then used the bottom of the shirt for the top of the bathing suit...and voila!!! it looks kinda funny but it actually doesn't look too bad when its on.

I received a few request to make a tut for this so here it is...sry about the awful quality i didn't have pics of the process so i had to improvise...hope you guyz like it. =]

You Will Need (5 things)

  • Fabric Scissors
  • T Shirt
  • Sewing Machine
  • Fabric Pen (s)
  • Bikini Bottoms

Steps (12 steps, 90 minutes)

  1. 1

Turn your blouse inside out and have someone stretch and hold the neck of the blouse so that you can better trace your bikini bottoms onto your blouse.

  2. 2

Line up your bikini bottoms with the blouse making sure the top of your bikini lines up with the stretchy elastic of the blouse’s collar. If there is a design on your blouse that you wish to display, make sure you trace accordingly in the corresponding sides of the blouse to ensure that your design will show where you want it (either in the front or the back of your new bikini bottoms)

  3. 3

Cut out both bikini bottom parts and sew a hem along the red areas

  4. 4

Place the outsides of the bikini bottoms facing each other and sew along the purple lines.

  5. 5

Using the existing hem on the bottom of your blouse cut a rectangle that is long enough to go from one of your under arms to the other and thick enough to cover your bust. The existing hem on the blouse is to be the hem of your new bikini top.

  6. 6

Sew a hem on what is to be the top of your bikini top (along the green line)

  7. 7

Fold and sew both the left ant the right of your top making sure to leave a big enough gap to fit a piece of fabric that is to tie around your back

  8. 8

Cut out two long pieces of fabric about a half inch thick. Don’t worry about making them perfectly straight just kinda eyeball it. Then pull on them so that they stretch lengthwise. When you’re done they should look like two long cords and will be about 35% longer.

  9. 9

Using your safety pin thread the cords through the gaps at the sides of your bikini top. It should look like this.

  10. 10

Fold your bikini top in half and using your tailors chalk mark a line down the middle on the inside of your bikini top.

Sew a piece of elastic down the center of your top where you marked it. Make sure you stretch the elastic as you go down so that when its all sewn it scrunches up.

  11. 11

    FINISHED!!!

  12. 12

Note: There are many variations to this bathing suit such as…
-Instead of a rectangle for your top you can cut a trapezoid so that you can tie it from it from behind your neck and from your back (instead of only from your back as you would with a rectangle)
-Instead of sewing the sides of the bikini bottoms you can make them thinner so that you can attach cords of fabric like the ones you made to tie your bikini top so that you can tie it as well.
