Bartleby

A Sheepie Backpack

About

This is a huge version of a plushie from Aranzi Aronzo's Cute Book. Except the arms were modified, and he's really big, and there's a zipper that has half-decapitated him.

He is a plushie backpack that I must send in a swap, but really don't want to. One look into his crazy little eyes, and I was smitten. Le sigh. Anywayz, sorry about the blurry zipper-shot, but it actually didn't turn out so bad. Usually I am a disaster with zippers, but this time, not so much. Yay!

Oh, and sorry about the crap Paint pictures, but I didn't photograph Bartleby until he was done.

You Will Need (6 things)

  • 3/10 yd Black Felt
  • ½ yd White Felt
  • ½ yd lining fabric Fabric
  • 4 in pink Ribbon
  • 1 yd Black satin Ribbon 1.5 inch wide
  • 7 pink Zipper

Steps (4 steps, 180 minutes)

  1. 1

Cut out all the pieces of your plushie of choice. I have Bartleby, the lovely sheepie.

  2. 2

Sew all the pieces together as they would be sewed if this were a real plushie, except for the head. And don't stuff the body. Arms, legs, head(s), fine. But not the body. That is where your stuff will go. Sew the lining to itself, as well.

  3. 3

Shove the lining into Bartleby, then put the zipper into place. It should be between Bartleby's skin and his lining. Sew it in, along each side. Turn under the fabric as you go along.

  4. 4

Sew on Bartleby's head, his horns, and some straps. I made mine of some wide satin ribbon. Black, natch.
