Babies can't avoid holidays!
I'm not big into Christmas, but the rest of my family is. With my older brother and his wife having a baby, I decided to put my looms to good use.

If you know how to loom knit, these projects will be super simple! I'll just provide a rough guide to make a hat and mitts for babies that are just a couple months old. Feel free to adapt it to any hat/mitt size.

I use cotton yarn because it's least likely to irritate a baby's skin. Peaches & Creme is my go-to brand, but any worsted weight cotton yarn should do.

  • Step 1

    **HAT** Loom: 31-peg Darice loom.
Using two strands of worsted weight (4) cotton yarn in white, knit 14 rows.
Fold the first row up over the pegs and knit into a hat brim.
Switch your yarn color to red and knit 18 more rows.
Finish the hat by gathering the top loops in tight and securing.
    Weave in all loose strands.

Top the hat with a white pom-pom.

    **MITTS** Loom: 12-peg Darice loom.
Using two strands of worsted weight (4) cotton yarn in white, knit 8 rows.
Fold the first row up over the pegs and knit into the mitt cuff.
Switch your yarn to red and knit 12 more rows.
Finish the mitt by gathering the loops in tight and securing.
    Weave in all loose strands.

    Repeat for a second mitt.
