Cut Out + Keep

Ava

Ava undead

This is one of my oldest dolls and is featured on my website as Ava. She is my little zombie girl. Her head is a plastic, paper covered ball usually sold in craft stores as ornaments you can paint yourself. This was one of the first projects I used paper clay on, it's light weight and a tad harder to use than crayola air dry but its a good product. I let her face dry for several hours before painting and adding a combed down mohawk of purple hemp cord. Her body is a small block of balsa wood with holes drilled for her legs and arms. Her little hands are made of wood scraps attached to dowels with wire inserted into a drill hole. Her legs (thighs) are square dowels rounded off with sandpaper and a joint cut into the bottom, her shins are also square dowels cut to length and sanded to a rounded point with a tab cut into the top portion. The tab is then inserted into the joint left in the thigh, a tiny hole is drilled through the side and fastened with a piece of wire, giving her an actual bending knee (though rudimentary) Her clothes are made of an old Curtain tie. Cute, if even in a undead way X...X that's my zombie face.
