Growing up my great aunt made these for all her neices and nephews. I now make them for all the people I love ( and some that i just like really well. LOL).

  • Step 1

    Sizes 7 1/2 (9 , 10 ) womans
Pattern calls for 2 strands of worsted weight held togeather through out. (I have found that if you use bulky weight you can get by with one strand both make a sqishey cozy slipper) I have made some on size 11 needles for a larger size mans foot and on size 9 needles for a childs foot.

  • Step 2

    Cast on 52 ( 56 , 66 ) sts
    Bottoms;
Knit 8 (10,10) rows in garter stitch(knit each row).

  • Step 3

    upper shaping
Knit 23 (26,30) stitches purl 2 togeather place a marker knit 2 place a marker purl 2 togeather knit 23(26,30).
    Row two: purl 22 (25,29)knit 2 togeather move marker purl 2 move marker knit 2 togeather purl 22 ( 25, 29)
repeat last two rows decreasing before and after markers as astablished. (DO NOT decrease on last purl row.)Until there are 26 ( 28, 30 ) left on the needles.

  • Step 4

    Top Band
    Knit 6 rows.
Bind off loosely. Leave a tail about 18 to 24 inches to sew up seam.
(if the person you are making these for has big ankles and small feet you can increase the number of stitches that should be left on the needle before the top band is started.)

  • Step 5

    To finish
Put right sides togeather and sew down the back and across the bottom of slipper. Turn right side out and enjoy. Auntie used to add pom-poms or a ribbon.
